Tee-Shirt Talk: Kolohe Andino’s American Attire
With some good surfing, of course!
To celebrate the t-shirt and their team riders, Hurley enlisted Julio ‘YAIA’ Battistelli, an Argentinian designer best known for his highly detailed work with Santa Cruz Skateboards in the late 80s/early 90s (skeletons galore!), to craft a range of shirts inspired by the surfers themselves.
“From the early sketches to the final art, I was driven to build something that while new and unique, paying homage to classic California surf and skate vibes, an era that captured the mind of my generation,” Yaia said about the range.
The range features an individual tee for Ace Buchan, Kolohe Andino, John Florence, Michel Bourez, Julian Wilson, and Filipe Toledo, where all the dressings are based on the surfer’s style and heritage.
In a way they’re a little bit like a WSL jersey just with punk rock flair; so now you can support your favourite surfer without looking like a full-kit football wanker.
In this first T-Shirt Talk ep, Kolohe Andino invites us into his home to spy on his garage full of identical boards, his baseball betting techniques, and a full bodied immersion into his overflowing walk-in wardrobe. Followed up by some good surfing in bad waves down at the San Clemente Pier.
Kolohe’s personal tee is inspired by American band logo tee’s, but despite his avid collection, he’s unsurprisingly unwilling to wear a shirt emblazoned with his own name.

As there’s only so many Hurley logo tees that’ll fit in your wardrobe, here’s something else to try for size.
