Skeleton Bay (Briefly) Came To Life Last Week
Highlights from the first swell of the season at the world’s best wave.
If you are lucky enough to find yourself on a sleeping donkey, you may just be in for the ride of your life.
That is, if you can hold on when it wakes up.
Skeleton Bay, or as the locals have named it, “Donkey Bay,” awakened for the first time this season. The left-hand point break, located on a desolate stretch of Namibian coastline, gave a few lucky guys a taste of what the world’s best wave has to offer.
Fortunately for us, our boys over at Zig Zag Magazine trusted the forecast and made the trek up the coast, pulling up to the clean 3-4ft reeling barrels that have made Skeleton Bay so famous. Granted, it wasn’t perfect conditions, but with 1 km of wave to work with, and only 15 guys out, who could complain?
Check out their edit, above, and get your GoPros ready. Skeleton Bay SZN is upon us.
