Russell Bierke Made The Best Film Of The Year And Had These Clips Left-Over
What Russ would call “playful” ledges.
If, on Jauary 1, 2019, Stab had asked 50 influential voices in surfing who they expected to make the best clip that year, I’d be shocked if one of them picked Australian dragon-jockey Russell Bierke.
Alas, with his film “Flow State”, Russ earned more peer respect than any surfer in the world, thus winning the Stab Surfer of the Year category for Best Web Clip. Remarkable!
Every great surf film has quality waves left on the cutting room floor, and “Flow State” is no different. Here, we see B-clips from a trip that Russ did while filming for his opus. Meanwhile Russ’ pal, Darcy Piper, scores what appears to be the lions’ share of ledging vortices.
