Woah, Mick Fanning sure can fly now, huh? A competitor as savvy as Mick knows that you gotta be able to keep up with the competition – something Kelly Slater’s also aware of. So the two of ’em have adapted accordingly, and’ve both opened up a big ol’ bag of tricks. This is a clip from France, during the lay-days of the Quiksilver Pro. Mick, Kelly, Taj and Dusty Payne disseminate a French beachbreak via a flurry of hucks and finners. Owen Wright told us briefly about the session just after it happened: “There was a bit of a session yesterday and I talked to Kai Otton. Kai said, “Mate, everyone out here, even Mick n’ that were doing airs”. And, Mick’s always freaking out how he can’t do airs. Apparently he was doing some big ones too.” Seems the big guns still know how to stay ahead of the pack. – Elliot Struck
