The Pick-Up: How The Hos Lost Their Triple Crown Streak And Dissecting Medina’s Pipe Board
Mason Ho provides the juice on episode 10 of our bi-weekly North Shore news show.
Throughout ten Pick-Up episodes, never have we so deeply enjoyed our time in that hot, yellow-now-multicolored room as we did with the North Shore heir Mason Ho.
Between gut-busting monologues by Mr. Ho, we tackle currently relevant topics such as new sponsor deals, the Pipeline Masters, Gabriel Medina’s formless surfboards, and of course the elephant in the room—the fact that 2019 marks the first year in the history of the Triple Crown that a Ho was not involved in at least one of the events.
For context, Mike and Derek won the first four Triple Crowns and six total between them. Mason has competed in the Triple Crown since he was 16 and has made semifinals at both Sunset and Pipe. Because Mason pursued perfect waves over the QS this year (Mase surfed in just four events), he didn’t have a high enough standing to qualify for surfing’s holy trinity. This made Mason mad, then sad, but it’s also led to some of the best sessions he’s ever had at home.
Tiph also surfs a “weird wave” with Mr. Dylan Graves and the Ouija Wheel makes a shocking Jaws prediction.
It’s all happening in episode 10 of The Pick-Up w/ Vans. Click and absorb!
