Kelly Slater Voices His Concerns For Surfing’s Olympic Debut
“Figuring out their radiation problem. That’s one. And making sure we got enough waves to surf. I don’t know. They probably don’t want me talking about that…”
Kelly Slater has a fight on his hands as far as Olympic qualification is concerned. John Florence is rumoured to be entering the Pipe Masters, plus the Triple Crown, and he’s already 3000 points ahead of Kelly on the leaderboard with only one spot left in Team USA.
Despite this fight for the second spot in the USA’s Olympic team, Kelly recently voiced some concerns he has about the Olympic debut in Japan. Ranging from the conspiracies regarding Japan’s cancer rates post Fukushima meltdown, the qualifying system, and of course, the likelihood of there being good waves.
In this clip, Kelly also divulges on a few other global issues, but those aren’t as relevant to surfing so stayed out of the title.
This isn’t Kelly’s first appearance on Graham Bensinger’s show and likely won’t be his last. It’s also only one clip out of many in this recent spate of clips – which I’ve conveniently plugged below for your convenience.
That should be your Sunday covered.
And then Kalani even breaks down some potential future scenarios with her long time partner, Kelly.
