Kanoa Igarashi’s Surfing Has Reached A Point Of Undeniability
His music taste, however, is up for interpretation.
In the past two years, Kanoa Igarashi has transitioned from a teen virtuoso to CT powerhouse.
He made this defining shift more quickly than his predecessor, Kolohe Andino, or his contemporary, Griffin Colapinto, shocking most who follow the sport.
Kanoa has always had the talent. That was never a question. But there’s a difference between natural ability and the mental and physical strength required to compete on surfing’s alpha tour. To beat Slater at Keramas. To not crumble in Willian’s wake.
But with a strict diet of Portuguese beef and the most flagrant confidence surfing has seen since GT was on the mic, Kanoa quieted the haters who said things like: “His turns are soft,” “He can’t get tubed”, and “He’ll never be Brett.”
And while the last criticism will forever be true, we offer the above video as an argument against the former two points. Kanoa’s surfing is now, and will likely forever be, undeniable.
