John Florence Just Dropped 6 Mini-Bangers On His Youtube Channel

Because fuck algorithms, that’s why.

Social media algorithms are fickle as shit.

The second you think you have one figured out, the whole thing flips on its head and you’re back to square one, wondering why a post that would have performed well last week is floundering today.

Strategies vary from app to app, but in general, Youtube prefers longer content and Instagram shorter. Both platforms tend to reward some spacing between posts…or at least that’s what we thought, until John Florence went and dropped six 60-second clips in a matter of 10 minutes on his Youtube channel, and almost all of them are racking up tens of thousands of views in the first nine hours.

Baffling.

Here they all are, in order of most to least views at the time of publication:

Interference with Jamie (37k views)

Backdoor Alleyoop (13k views)

Doubles at The Box with Jack Robinson (11k views)

The other side of Snapper (11k views)

2 Days of Sand (8k views)

VFABM Outtakes — WA (7k views)

All up, these videos account for over 87,000 views in less than 12 hours. Pretty darn impressive for a strategy that flies in the face of everything Youtube stands for. Guess it pays to be the best surfer alive.

Meanwhile, our great little Callum Robson interview struggles to crack the 5k mark!
