Steven Miller was standing on the shore at The Wedge with a lens when this happened: Jamie O’Brien, who you’ve already seen do a board transfer at Pipeline, just did the same thing at The Wedge in California. A board transfer, in case you’re wondering, consists of Jamie paddling into a bomb on a foam Catch Surf log with his regular shortboard balanced on the nose. When he stands up, he picks up the shortboard with him and rides down the face holding it in his hands. After bottom turning the log, he then jumps off and lands on the shortboard (on his feet), like a goddamn cat. It’s novelty, it’s comical, it’s hard as shit, and it’s so very Jamie O’Brien. Doing it at The Wedge is as legit as it gets.
