Knifing in a winter wonderland. The North Shore’s got just about wave genre you can ask for; big pits at Pipe, Backdoor and OTW, punchy rip-able walls at Rockies, wedging closeouts at Logs and back adjustments at Waimea and Sunset. Here Jack, Mitch, Nat, Balaram Stack, Yadin Nicol, Granger Larsen, Bede Durbidge and Keanu Asing sample some of rock’s finest dining. Some of the boys stay for the winter, some do shifts between there and home but they all make it out and stay for a while. Island fever’s a real thing and when the waves go flat scurvy sets in. Luckily that hasn’t been the case the past month, El Niño’s been all too kind and there’s no need to be chowing onions.
