Jack Freestone And Alana Blanchard Join The Vlog Contingent
With Nathan Florence boarding the bandwagon too!
Vlogs are so hot right now! Dion Agius introduced surfing to the vlog seemingly eons ago with Dion TV, but it wasn't until the late 2010's that surfing's fascination with incessant online uploads truly exploded.
Jamie O'Brien's endless output on This Is J.O.B. was where the resurgence began, and from there, the likes of Brett Barley, Koa Rothman, Ben Gravy and the Coffin bro's all truly jumped on board.
Vlogs may typically be constituted of haphazard cuts, quick production, and non-curated surf scenes, but it's this rough, behind-the-scenes approach which keep the masses coming. I'm not sure who the demographic is that's soaking it all up, but there's a big number of fans out there inhaling these clips by the hundreds and thounsands.
Now, the hottest power couple in surfing has joined forces in the vlog world: Jack Freestone and Alana Blanchard.
Alana's been running her own vlog for a number of years with a solid following, so it's mostly just Jack who's jumping on board. With a quick name change of Alana's YouTube handle and an inaugural ep instalment, Jack and Alana made their joint vlog debut with episode one of their new series, 'Happy Waves'.
The first ep features Alana picking granola and fruits at the farmer's markets, Jack and Alana doing some surfing, and then, they're very cute, vegan baby, Banks, surfing better than myself on his first ever wave.
It's just like watching one elongated Instagram story!
While we're on the topic, we may as well mention that Nate Florence has also joined the ranks.
A quick insight into a day where he surfed two Sunset heats and got properly piped at, well, Pipe, all edited to a very vloggy soundtrack. A surfing YouTubers delight!
