Is Yago Dora Brazil’s Most Stylish Surfer?
Ponder over five mins in the Ments.
Did you know Yago Dora grew up without a beach at his doorstep? He blew the candles out on his 11th birthday before he even started surfing. Now, roughly ten years after making the world’s greatest life choice, Yago is taking centre stage. With a flurry of results this year on both the QS and CT it’s likely he’ll be on full time for 2018.
Now, back to the question at hand; is Volcom’s competitive star also Brazil’s most-pleasing to watch? His skate-like technique, casual yet creative, sure puts forward a convincing argument. But, what will come of that slinky poise when he’s wearing a jersey for a living? Style doesn’t pay in the big league. Will the need to slice one more hack add a dissonant ripple to his flow? We sure hope not!
Here’s what he had to say about the Indonesian motion postcard above.
“It was a family vibe kinda trip, I had my dad, Leandro Dora, Pedro Barros and his dad André, and Léo Kakinho who’s also a very good friend of us and one legend of skateboarding in Brazil.
We spent 9 days on the Macaronis Resort which is really nice, and we were lucky enough to score Green Bush for my first time ever… together with fun Macas and Roxys.
We all had one of the best trips of our lives, surf all day long, and we got very sunburnt.”
