How Did Kolohe Andino Prepare For Pipe? One-Foot SC Pier!
25+ boards, a pair of crocs, and one kid from San Clemente.
Courtesy of Redbull Surfing, this week we got to follow San Clemente’s Kolohe Andino around his hometown. With Hawaii season in full swing, Brother is preparing for his annual trek to the North Shore. Almost 30 surfboards, a stack of traction pads, and a tower of wax packed into his Pipe arsenal, ready to be dismembered by our beloved airline baggage workers.
Andino has also been dialing in his competition skills, despite the waist-high mush offered at his local pier. While it isn’t exactly the wave quality he can expect on the North Shore, it’s still good practice for general competitive strategy. According to official mock heat judge Brett Simpson, Kolohe’s carving 360 was a poor decision and left the wave of the day scoreless. Hopefully he has better results in Hawaii.
Thanks for letting us hang around, Brother—oh and nice crocs.
