The title race this year is arguably a little more interesting than in previous years, and that’s based purely on one element: Gabriel Medina. It’s been way too long since a fresh face was in the mix, and we’re not talking like, “Oh he could be in the conversation” but actually legitimately won three contests and looking fucking amazing and enough to re-inspire an until-now jaded-looking Kelly Slater to try to hold on.
