Gold Coast Fires Sans WSL

For weeks before the WSL hit the Goldy, the waves pumped. Days after the circus left town, the waves, again, pumped. In between… not so much. Funny how it works sometimes. Those who decided to stick around town for a few extra days were heavily rewarded. Here, we get Jordy Smith, Matt Banting, Dion Atkinson, Ryan Hipwood, Davey Cathels, and more collecting their goods. Don’t be fooled into thinking it was empty perfection without the tour in town, though. Brochures tend to leave out that the Gold Coast is the most crowded surf locale on this planet. That said, select standouts snagged their share, and we’re happy they did.
