Eli Olson Hosts A Banquet Of Dredging Lefts, Buckled Boards, And Self-Surgical Coral Removal
A dark horse for the 2023 Vans Pipe Masters?
Eli Olson recently ordered one of Indoneisa’s finest dry-season three course meals — G-Land, Desert Point and Uluwatu. As hoped, he was served up a steaming plate of tantalizing left-handed cones, and a few bits of broken polyurethane as a side-dish.
This trip wasn’t all smooth rail work, however. Eli told Nathan Florence and Koa Rothman that on his first drop at G-Land, he got burned by a guy after he back-paddled the crowd, which resulted in Eli buckling his step up.
Tempers were hot, but after a brief moment of self-reflection, Eli and the man shook hands and made peace, and the young Hawaiian proceeded to swing on bombs (unimpeded) on his shortboard. Speaking of which, Eli’s clip is a reminder that with his skillset and homegrown experience in overhead, board-breaking cones, he’s very much a tough draw for the upcoming Vans Pipe Masters (Dec. 8-20).
Hit play to watch some very enviable lefts tubes, interposed between Eli attempting self-surgery to revoke a few pieces of coral, coming to grips with clubbing the night before a 5 a.m. ferry ride with Mason Ho to Desert Point, and experiencing the wondrous sensation of Japan Airlines charging him $600 for an overweight board bag while hungover.
Might need Billy Kemper to send some more emails
