Dion Agius And A GoPro In Iceland
Getting skunked on waves doesn’t dull your hopes of cutting a cinematic short.
Dion Agius and Beren Hall got skunked in Iceland. There was swell, yes, but when the waters are approaching zilch, and the onshore winds violate your goose down, suiting up into a stiff 6/5 isn’t exactly appealing.
A lack of surf doesn’t diminish Iceland’s picturesque nature though. While Dion occasionally opted for a meticulous and complex film craft, Beren kept his digits wrapped around a new GoPro.
“I’d heard from numerous trusted sources that Iceland was one of the most scenically beautiful places on the planet. My expectations were high.” Beren Hall told Stab.
“But nothing could have prepared me for how stunning the place is.
“It’s a relatively small country so we decided to circumnavigate, hunting for waves, GoPro’s out the window, taking in the ever-changing landscapes at every turn— volcanos, lava fields, snow-capped mountains, glaciers, never-ending fjords, massive waterfalls and tiny villages dotted throughout the countryside.” Beren continued.
“It’s by far the most amazing country I’ve been to. I’ll be heading back as soon as I can.”
When you’re between destinations and would prefer to keep your set-up time to a minimal, there’s nothing as simple and suitable as a Goey. Of course, they’re not quite the same caliber as a bank-obliterating RED, but their latest model has bridged the quality gap without compromising on price.
If you’re here to see surfing then the above won’t satiate your desires. But if you’re in the market for a simple yet adequate film device, the above shot by Beren is the perfect product exhibition. Panning drone shots, highway timelapses, and innumerable other functions all on display.
