Connor O’Leary Continues His Good Times Tour, Visits The Wavegarden Demo Center With Friends
Airs, turns, acid drops, fins-first take-offs and switch waves ensue.
Wavegarden technology is responsible for bringing surfing to many different places around the world.
We’re talking Alaia Bay in Switzerland, URBNSURF in Australia, Surf Park in South Korea, and Praia do Gama in Brazil. That’s one hell of a list, but it all started in the Basque Country of Spain.
You might recall seeing old clips of the world’s best surfers teeing off at the Wavegarden demo center — which was groundbreaking at the time. Much like a brief culinary tour of San Sebastian, a trip to the pool became a box that every major pro surfer burning through the region hoped to check. That’s because it’s less than 90 minutes from Hossegor — the home of the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro France events.
The demo center has evolved and now features Wavegaden’s Cove technology, which is used at all the pools we listed above. The winner of this year’s Quik Pro, Connor O’Leary, came down for a whirl and he brought some friends: Wade Carmichael, Cooper Chapman, and Finn McGill. Airs, turns, acid drops, fins-first take-offs and switch waves ensued. It certainly looks like Connor’s good times tour continued.
“I caught more waves than I could count — probably way more than any other session I’ve ever had in my life,” Finn McGill said. Which is believable, as the pool is capable of producing 1000 waves an hour.
Do yourself a favor and stick around for Finn’s superman attempt at the end.
