California’s Surf In 2017 Has Trumped Political Turmoil
From San Francisco to Santa Barbara.
After a rough start to winter, waves in California switched on mid-January. And since then, it’s been (almost) nonstop. As of recent, there’s been no need to stray too far from home, and everyone’s surfed out to the point the crowds and general vibes have become pleasant (for California standards). Here Nat Young, Kolohe Andino, Ian Crane, Luke Davis, Kilian Garland, Adam Lambert, Kanoa Igarashi, Trevor Gordon, Yadin Nicol and Tom Curren taking the surf up and down their home coast. Also, if you’re ever thinking of surfing Sandspit on a weekend, 7:00 is a good depiction of just how many pros and people are occupying the famed Santa Barbara sand bottom point.
