California Pumps (Again) And Archy Gets The Tube Of The Morning

Matt Archbold is in the building. Also in the barrel.

California has been having one hell of a winter.

Non-stop waves, clean conditions and immaculate sandbars have led to plenty of happy, sun-kissed faces up and down the Golden State. San Diego has been in immaculate form, Rincon has been constantly running, and Nat Young is calling this the “best winter ever” in the Central-Northern regions.

But the real sign of a quality California winter? When Orange County breaks the head-high mark.

Recently this right-hand point has seen some incredible windows, resulting in the OC’s finest wave slayers – Kolohe, Griffin, Yadin and friends – wrapping themselves in 50 shades of blue. However none of these young bucks won the most recent session at the point, but rather it was OC legend Matt Archbold, who at the ripe age of 51 scored the tube of the morning (see 3:45).

All those years charging Off The Wall trained Archy for the day when his homebreak would breach the four-foot mark, and boy did he seize the moment!
