Brett Barley And The Best Run Of Surf North Carolina Has Ever Seen

The east coast of the United States has great, if extremely fickle surf. In my opinion it gets much better than California, but the east coast's swell infrequency makes the west a better place to live as a surfer. In California you can get decent waves almost any day, while on the east coast you might only surf once or twice a week.

This past September, the east coast (and North Carolina in particular) experienced its best run of swell in... ever. Three massive hurricanes floated around in the Atlantic and delivered almost six weeks of near-continuous swell. Lucky for North Carolina, the storms took a path that delivered optimal swell and winds while never threatening coastal devastation. The above video shows, in agonizing fashion, just how good he waves were over that period.

And god damn can Brett Barley thread a tube.
