Believe It Or Not, There Were Surfable Waves During Australia’s Recent Swell
While those in Sydney were preoccupied with watching attempted suicide at Manly’s, Deadmans, some further north scored some more inviting waves.
The swell which hit Australia’s East Coast this week was fucked. It was massive at the peak – I certainly didn’t try and surf – but those of us unwilling to paddle into 10-foot lumps could quell our sadistic desires by watching the highlights from Deadmans; a wave on Sydney’s northern beaches which rarely breaks, and when it does, rarely lets anyone out of its tube easily.
There were however some genuinely good waves too.
Up above you can watch a session off the Queensland coast of surf which is far more inviting (permitting you have a ski) than what bombarded the Sydney region all week.
Watch it and writhe in jealousy. And if you’re feeling really masochistic, dial up the volume because the soundtrack is an absolute stinker.
