The Los Angeles native made the gruesome journey from LAX to the North Atlantic for what he thought was a seven-day strike mission. With back-to-back(-to-back) swells on the forecast, and a Channel Islands coffin stuffed with a handful of fresh handshaped Merrick Happy Step-Ups seven days turned into five weeks, leading to Mr. Gray clocking more tube time in a month than most hope for in a lifetime.
