About 15 years ago, John John Florence touched down in Indo for the first time. With mom and brothers in tow, they stopped over in Bali before voyaging on for a Mentawai boat trip on the Pelagic. The score of the trip was a four-foot day at Rags Rights.
A lot’s changed for John since those unbridled grommet days, namely a big contract, a couple World Titles and a couple significant injuries. He was on his way to a third title this year before going down in Rio. The subsequent knee surgery and time out of the water has afforded him the opportunity to keep his YouTube channel well stocked.
We’ve arguably seen more video of John since he’s been hurt than when he was healthy, but that’s neither here nor there.
In his latest drop, John offers a glimpse into his life in Bali during the CT contest. He’s relaxed, hanging with his mom, laughing at his shaper, and enjoying the playful, puntable set-up out front of his abode.
