40 mins of raw Chopes (’07)
For those who’ve never been lucky enough to watch a heaving Teahupoo session from the channel (or indeed surf it, if you have the grit), then this is as close as you’ve come. While digging through some old hard drives, Lost came across 40 minutes of raw footage from April 2007 at Chopes. It was shot six years ago this month, on the final day of the WCT event trials. Andy and Bruce Irons paddle out late in the session and put on, as Lost so aptly describe it, “a performance for the ages.” If you’ve got an afternoon to kill, this is some really captivating viewing. PS. Could the Hobgoods be any better out there? PPS. Watch out for Bruce’s belting at 29:33.
