Connor O’Leary Has to Be the Most Underrated Goofy in the World
Catching up with the 2017 WSL Rookie of the Year.
On a list of surfers it’s impossible to dislike, Connor O’Leary would have to place near the top.
Not only because he’s invariably one of the nicest guys to ever put his feet in the wax, but because his surfing, especially with his back to the wall, is flawless in style, technique, power and all other metric you could possibly use to judge our favourite recreational art form.

The latest instalment of Channel Island‘s What’s Going On Series catches up with Connor in his adopted Northern Rivers home, using his quiver as a means to explore his forced sabbatical.

Notable occasions surfing-wise include the millimetre-perfect roundhouse (that Connor claims is the best he’s ever done, on a CI Mid, no less) at 2:54, elite spice in the pocket at 3:28, and the beautiful, alternate lines drawn on less than hi-fi crafts at 6:00 and beyond.
