Waco’s Wave-Side Pool Bar Is Open For Business
Let the parents soak whilst the young’ns perfect their flips!
Can we talk for a second about Stab High?
This whole live-streamed surfing event thing is an incredible undertaking.
Like with an onion there are very many layers, and each time we peel one back we’re met with an even juicier, more tear-inducing chunk that must be handled with the utmost care for fear of slicing our very fingers.
Making this even more endeavorous is the fact that Stab comprises 10 or so moderately-skilled individuals, most of whom are sufficiently busy maintaining this site and who have little-to-no experience in large scale event planning.
Even our owner and publisher, Sam McIntosh, who is responsible for Stab‘s biggest and most successful endeavors (see: The Dock, Stab in the Dark), claims Stab High is the most extensive project in our brand’s young life.
Needless to say, our whole team’s energy has been directed toward making the event as entertaining and successful as possible. This means spending hours on the phone with potential judges, commentators, web-cast companies, live-scoring softwares, BSR, etc., and even hiring a few experts to help us get Stab High (way, way) off the ground.

Meet our Chief Wavepool Operator, Cheyne Magnussen!
But come September 22nd, all this stress and chaos will be worth it.
Once the winner is crowned and the evening festivities begin, with hundreds of surf fans having enjoyed their spectator experience, Stab’s multinational squad will invade BSR’s newly finished pool bar and ingest a variety of triple-shot cocktails.
It will be marvelous.
And we hope you’ll come join us on the day for a few drinks (or not) of your own. We’ll be the ones drenched in sweat, running around like headless poultry for most of the day.
See you in Texas.
