Vans Stab High Central America, Presented By Monster Energy Launches Today

Here’s how to watch (for free).

Words by Zack Raffin

Vans Stab High Central America, Presented by Monster Energy is by far Stab’s biggest production to date.

Eighteen surfers, six Ladybirds, five judges, ten filmers, and Stab‘s entire U.S. team made the trip to Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, in early May with one goal in mind: raise surfing’s progressive ceiling. Once everyone received their marching orders, it was off to the races, with competitors having 12 days to go as high as humanly possible. While Stab High is and always will be a competition, it became evident from Day 1 that this was about a lot more than merely crowning a winner.

This year, we invited surfers from ten nations to join us for the Stab High experience. We’d like to think surfing has always been an inclusive endeavor, but bearing witness to the way our crew immediately bonded over their love of surfing over the course of those two weeks was something truly special to be a part of. We can’t wait to share it with you.

Over the next four weeks, we’ll be bringing you five episodes from our Costa Rican adventure. Thanks to the generous support of Vans and Monster Energy, Episode 1 of Vans Stab High Central America, presented by Monster Energy, premieres for free on our Youtube Thursday, July 22nd at 7 PM PST. See below for the full schedule:

Episode 1- Thursday, July 22nd at 7 PM PST

Episode 2- Thursday, July 29th at 7 PM PST

Episode 3- Thursday, August 5th at 7 PM PST

Episode 4- Tuesday, August 10th at 7 PM PST

Episode 5- Thursday, August 12th at 6 PM PST

Not only will this project be entirely free to watch, but this year our Stab Premium members will help us decide the winner of Vans Stab High, Central America, presented by Monster Energy. The fifth and final episode will include fan voting, creating a truly democratic process to crown our champion (details to come).

Oh, and we almost forgot. Stab will be taking over NYC for Episodes 4 and 5 of Vans Stab High, Central America, presented by Monster Energy. We will be headed back to The Flower Shop on the Lower East Side for the Episode 4 watch party on Tuesday, the 10th, followed by a final blowout upon crowning our winner in Brooklyn on Thursday the 12th (Location TBD). These events will be free to the public, so if you’re in the area… you know what to do.

Episode 1 of Vans Stab High, Central America, presented by Monster Energy, is almost here. See you Thursday, July 22nd at 7 PM PST!
