Some big things happened in a small amount of time today at the Quiksilver Pro, France. In the blink of an overcast morning, Brett Simpson had lost his spot on tour and Taj Burrow had been eliminated from the world title race. But the developments that’ll be felt more immediately? We now have the final eight competitors. While the event sits on hold til a 5pm local time call, dig on the exquisite gallery above. It shows Filipe Toledo’s win over Jordy Smith in round five with massive airspace occupation. It shows Julian Wilson sending Simpo back to the QS with a full rote oop and a popped frontside rotation. It shows Gabriel Medina’s scarily good round four heat with Jules and Jordy, in which he clocked 17.43 points, the day’s highest combined total so far (by a long shot). And, so much more. But it ain’t over yet. Keep an eye on the event site for the call, ’cause chances are there’ll be a bow on this thing in a few hours’ time.
