Shark Grabs 10-year-old Boy From Boat
He remains in a stable condition.
According to SBS News Australia, the ten-year-old was grabbed from a six-metre vessel near Stanley, a town on the north-west coast of Tasmania.
“The boy … was aboard a six-metre vessel on a fishing expedition about 5km from shore with his father and two other men when a shark grabbed him from the boat,” Ambulance Tasmania said in a statement to SBS news reporters.
The boy’s father jumped into the water and the shark swam away, the statement said.
At the time of the attack, the boy was wearing a life jacket. He suffered lacerations and cuts to his arm, chest and head and is reported to be in a stable condition in North West Regional Hospital.
