Shane Dorian wins world’s most luxurious surf event

Photos: WSL The Four Seasons yacht is a doozy. Precisely the type of thing one might investigate when planning a lavish surf trip with high salary pals, for whom price is no obstacle. See it in the background above there? Absolutely divine. Aside from being the top line of luxury in surf boat trips (as well as one of the world’s most expensive!), it’s also the anchor of the Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champions Trophy, a cross-craft surfing event that attracts gents like Shane Dorian, Brad Gerlach, Dave Rastovich and Neco Padaratz. Mr Dorian sure lives some kinda life. Results in 2015? Bear with me now: Rasta won the single fin event. Shane won the twin fin event over Rasta in the final. Shane then won the thruster event over Neco. Which put Mr Dorian into the Champions Trophy major final, where he surfed against Rasta… and won. “The conditions were just magic,” said Shane. “That Maldivian water clarity, the sun shining, and perfect offshore. The wave is so rippable and user friendly. I’m really stoked to be here. It’s such a magical place, the Four Seasons Resort is top notch in every way, the staff, the service, the food it’s all amazing and the proximity of the resort to the waves is also incredible.” Shit, don’t that just sell it? Start saving though. Oh, Rasta. Fabulous on a single rudder. And if you needed more proof of how excellent a time Shane is having in the Maldives… just take a look at his Instagram: @shanedorian
