ASP World Tour sponsor Samsung just released a commercial that colours their foray into the world of surf. The tagline is Every Day is Day One and it contrasts the lives of average surfers, experienced and beginners, with emotive tour footage featuring Kelly, Medina, Steph, Crewsy and Johanne Defay. It’s not Earth-shatteringly genius, but the first board, wave, barrel or title premise is quaint as any other. Direction’s courtesy of a gent named Mark Molloy from Melbourne, who’s client list includes Toyota, Volkswagon, Weight Watchers and Johnnie Walker. It’s super slick, and as polished as you’d expect from a company like Samsung.

Speaking of which; turns out the US Today show broadcasting scooped five million views. The commercial – which the ASP call a “film” – launched to coincide with an appearance on the daily breakfast program in New York City. The program announced the tour’s arrival to US shores and featured Kelly Slater and Coco Ho, plus Gabs Medina, Jules Wilson, CJ Hobgood, Courtney Conlogue and Greg Long. Here it is…
