John John Florence just won the 2014 Quiksilver Pro, France

John John Florence just beat Jadson Andre in the final of the Quiksilver Pro, France. John’s event really started tuning up when he posted a 19.90 combined heat total against Mick Fanning in thumping sand-bottomed barrels yesterday morning, before clocking a 16-point combined total over Kolohe Andino in the quarters (including a 9-point ride) and then beating Josh Kerr for a ticket past the semis. Mr Florence’s second consecutive final settled more favourably than his last (having lost to Jordy Smith at Lowers): He knifed big frontside barrels like he has been for the last two days, and cut through thick French butter with those turns the judges have just decided they appreciate. It’s a well overdue win for the man who’s been the form surfer of the last three events. “It has felt like such a long event and I’m so pumped to get the win in the end,” said John. “We’ve had every type of condition for this event and even finishing in barrels was a lot of work. There was a lot of water moving out there and Jadson was always going to be a tough opponent. He looked super strong against Jordy in the Semi. Pumped on the win here and the support from the crowd was really impressive. “I’m really pumped with my results lately. I had a few weird things happen for me at the start of the year and I’ve made some adjustments recently. I’ve spoken to a lot of guys about the title and they all say that the title campaign actually starts the year before. I’m hoping for a few more good results this season to really make a run for it in 2015. I guess today’s win puts me in contention for this year, but Gabriel is so far ahead that some weird stuff would have to happen.” Quiksilver Pro France Final Results:1 – John John Florence (HAW) 16.002 – Jadson Andre (BRA) 4.57 Quiksilver Pro France Semifinal Results (1st Advances to Finals, 2nd Finishes Equal 3rd):SF 1: John John Florence (HAW) 15.50 def.
