John Florence Withdraws From The Rio Pro
After re-tweaking his knee yesterday on a fly-away kickout, the 2x World Champion has pulled out of the event.
Yesterday, John Florence re-tweaked his knee on a flyaway kickout at the Oi Rio Pro. The same knee that kept him out of the jersey for the majority of 2018, and abolished his hopes of ever defending his second World Title.
John was due to face Jordy Smith this morning but pulled out prior to the heat due to his knee injury. He will therefore receive a 5th place finish for the event, keeping him in the number one jersey until J-Bay. Jeffreys Bay is two weeks away, so hopefully John can recover in this short period of time. The details on the current injury are still scarce, so we can only hope John’s withdrawal is of a precautionary nature.
We’ll keep this updated as more information comes to light.
