DHD’s Stab In The Dark Board Was Stolen From Last Week’s Mona Vale Premiere

Help us get #86 back and we’ll gift a replica, no questions asked.

There’s not a lot you can do with a blacked-out board with Mick Fanning’s logos and a giant 86 splashed across its deck (unless you rip them off, *eye roll*).

So, uh, the turnout at Mona Vale for the premiere of Stab in the Dark more than surpassed our expectation. Which meant security was a little leaner than we had prepared. But rather than pucker up and worry too much, we decided to leave the boards Mick rode out to have and to hold. After the free Balter, the free hors d’oeuvres and the free Mick Fanning (man, the poor prick got seriously manhandled), we certainly didn’t think a board would be stolen.

Obviously, this board has real value to us and we want to get our hands on it again for posterity. We realise the conversation will now shift to the fact that we released the winner on the night of the premiere, before other premieres were complete and before it was available online. Which is a delicate situation, unless of course, we created a premiere edition that didn’t showcase a winner…

So, we need your help. You can send an email to [email protected], arrange a drop-off and receive a replica that you can happily do whatever you want with.

We truly couldn’t be fucked dealing with authorities or otherwise, we just need the board so it can be available to be ridden by Awayco.

Alternatively, if by chance you caught a glimpse of the person who leaped over the fence with it at the Parkhouse last week, fire us an email. You help us land the board, we’ll reward you with a new steamer.

For everyone else, if you come across the brandless, swallow-tailed blacked-out board or stickered up as number 86 – let us know.

Thanking you in advance for your decency, we appreciate it.

Also, speaking of decency, thank you to Ronnie Blakey for donating his Stab in the Dark hosting fee for the evening to One Eighty, a youth suicide prevention group based in Sydney.
