Bruce Irons won the last world tour event in Indonesia. It was the Rip Curl Pro Search, Uluwatu in 2008. Now, Stab believes the Hawaiian will light up the first Indo WCT event to be held in five years, as the Oakley Pro, Bali wildcard. The event, in case you’re unawares, is locked in for Keramas on June 18 and if the prospect of a world tour event at Keramas wasn’t thrilling enough, we now have the added bonus of Mr Irons’ presence.

Obviously it ain’t confirmed, but Bruce being Oakley’s biggest surfer not on tour, and the fact that his persona is still as rockstar (and crowd-drawing) as ever, this is a fair assumption. The rationale is simple. We want our wildcards to put the heat on big seeds. At six-foot-plus Keramas, a wildcard like Bruce could sure do some damage to a high seed like Kelly, Parko, or Adriano.

We look forward to the first round and a thundering south-west swell. Event site here.
