Conner Coffin’s Australian Crafts
Quiver talk.
Professional surfers are a wandering pack, travelling from location to location, and lugging more surfboards than the average human could fathom. For the elite, a dialled quiver is relevant as feeling loose before your heat. As a bystander, the sheer amount of fibreglass and foam owned by any esteemed surfer is a jealous affair. While you savour the final coins of your paycheck to update your collection (or just have something to ride that’s not waterlogged), their boards are handed out, tested, broken, and swapped out on a whim. But if there’s one thing consistent with all surfers, it’s everyone adores an unblemished shape. They long to be touched, thrown beneath your arm, held laterally at the hip, flipped over and rubbed down through the tail, with a final declaration of “this will go.” Here Conner Coffin breaks down his selects for the awaiting Australian leg–it should kick off Thursday. Tech nerds can come for the dimensional breakdown. Everyone else can stay for Conner’s rail.
