Warmups are well underway at Sultans, the delectable right hand reef that’ll play host to this year’s Four Seasons Maldives Surfing Champion’s Trophy.

Yesterday saw the first board bags unzipped revealing the various boards that invitees will be riding when competition kicks off (very shortly!).

As previously stated, this is a specialty invite-only event, involving a tight band of non CT stars and a competition structure that includes divisions for three, two and single fin, as well as a grand finale to decide the MVP multi-instrumentalist.

Among the lucky list of faces summoned for the event was the free roaming Josh Kerr, who was eager to remain in trunks after an impressive performance just weeks ago at Padang for the Rip Curl Cup.

Unlike Bruce, who handed over complete shaping trust to Matt Biolos of Mayhem, Kerrsy shipped in six boards from three different foam crafters, Album, Nirvana and Tyler Warren, to you know, cover all bases.

“I’m scared of thrusters, I haven’t ridden them in ages,” Josh said retrieving the more slender craft.

The more unique of the bunch coming from Mr Warren who created the wild looking quad channelled twin fin, and a swallow single that he took to town yesterday at Sultans.

He also has a number of high performance options on hand for more critical opportunities from Matt Parker at Album and Nirvana.

Stab’s just received word that the first heat of the single fin division will be paddling out shortly so tune into our Intagram Stories to follow live updates, or stay close by Stabmag.com for the daily wrap.
