First Look: The Four-Channel Small Wave Board From Mayhem
The V3 Stealth as tested by Kolohe Andino.
Matt Biolos shapes the best small-wave boards in the world. The thing that separates them from other small-wave boards is the fact they still ride like a shortboard: meaning they still have drive in the pocket and project towards the lip, something shorter, stubbier boards struggle with. This is Kolohe’s first surf on the new model which features four channels, in a design that, as Matt “Mayhem” Biolos puts, is “where fashion meets function.” This board spray will likely cause friction within the closed circles of the surf industry, the marble work on the deck is not dissimilar to Haydenshapes’ collab with high-end fashion label, Alexander Wang from back in 2014. Whatevs, Kolohe calls the board “the most fun ever” and he rides it here in 5’8” x 19 1/4” (27.5 litres). Oh, he’s 5’11 and 75kg (165lbs).
