Another awesomely wind-blown moment from the West. Yadin Nicol scored his career-best result last weekend, when he came second at the Telstra Drug Aware Pro, Margaret River. The result was a three-pack of sweetness for Yades: First, the dude that beat him was good buddy Damo Hobgood, who Yades has spent many months with during the filming for the new Globe film, 0000. Secondly, because the result was achieved at his home break of Margaret’s. And third, ’cause, well, it was his best result ever. Oh, and also – he’s now sitting just outside the ASP WT cut-off. Staying there’s no easy task and getting inside it is even harder, but hey – life’s sweet for Yades at the moment.
This shot, taken by Shane Dawson, was from a WA all-stars session with Yades and Taj Burrow at Smiths Beach. The trajectory, limb-placement and powering wind makes for a moment that can only be described as exciting. Yup, life’s sweet for Yades right now.
