It’s turning into a rite of passage: Professional surfers travelling anywhere near the Basque Country simply must pay a visit to the Wavegarden. Some facts about the Wavegarden? This is a demo centre in Northern Spain. It generates waves that run for 220 metres without losing shape or power. The tech’s dialled to generate 120 waves per hour with an average power of 270 KW. Every minute, two identical waves break simultaneously left and right, which can be ridden for up to 20 seconds. Which we find Travis Logie and Freddy Patacchia doing right here during yesterday’s Quiksilver Pro, France lay day. Let your eyes wander into the forestry above, and try to imagine how nice it’d be to session this place, regardless of minimal wave size.
