Tommy Ihnken slips under Hurricane Gonzalo, New Jersey
There’s just something about photographs from New Jersey, huh? But, let us take a moment to learn a little more about this one, via the photographer, Ryan Mack: “That one is Tommy Ihnken on the first day of the Gonzalo swell. We were on it at first light and just waiting for the winds to clean up the swell. Everyone flocked to New Jersey ’cause the forecast was looking insane. The entire tri-state area was here, lineups were packed north to south with surfers. Tommy was packing sick righthand tubes off this shit pipe… which is actually a sewer pipe from the local town. The day went on, winds sketched onshore, and it was quickly over. Then, it was back on for four hours of pumping surf for the next day!
