You saw Tom Carroll win the Heritage Heat at Pipeline two days ago. The Heritage Heats can be hit and miss but one particular moment in the Pipe instalment was absolutely a hit, thanks to Tommy boy. Now, Derek Ho, Sunny Garcia and Kong all had their moments. But TC, wearing his Gath hat and riding a replica of the 1991 Pipe Masters winning 7’8″ shaped by Pat Rawson, on which he did that turn, steamed through this 9.60 barrel and rushed everyone with nostalgia. ‘Legend’ is a term that’s used far too generously, but this is just hand straight in royal glove.
