Thom Pringle, tail-out on the Gold Coast, Australia

“I went down to the Gold Coast during a recent swell,” says photog Matty O’Brien. “I went there cause the Sunshine Coast sucks (where Matt and Thom Pringle, pictured here, are both from), and I was keen to shoot with Mitch Coleborn and Chris Friend while they were home.” The wind had been blowing south for a long time, and when it eventually swung around to the north, Thom and his brother Mike headed down to the Gold Coast to shoot. “The waves were fun,” says Matt. “But nothing special, ’cause the swell was straight south and flowing straight past most of the beachies.” Due to a bit of bodily re-construction and serious rehabilitation, Matty hasn’t been shooting for a while.
