Jaws Challenge Officially Called On For Monday
35-to-45 foot faces expected.
Not 24 hours after last night’s Yellow Alert, the WSL has put its money where Surfline’s mouth is and called the 2018 Jaws (which was once called Pea’hi) Challenge ON for this coming Monday.
According to Surfline, 35-45′ faces are expected
throughout the day, with a chance of bigger sets before nightfall. The competition can also run through Tuesday, should the swell arrive late and they need extra time to complete heats.
After last year’s incredible Jaws event, we’re downright drooling to see what this year brings. However the competitors might be the most excited among us…
The WSL has yet to drop an official Mens and Womens roster for the Jaws Challenge, but it’s safe to assume all the regulars will be jersey-ed up and swinging under the ledge.
Keep in mind that this same swell will also be filtering into Honolua and Sunset, where the Women’s CT and Men’s QS are also prepared to do battle with the Pacific. Which is to say, Monday and Tuesday will make for a special 48 hours in the world of professional surf viewing.
We’ll have all tabs open in case something newsworthy should occur.
