Pete Devries and a frozen departure in the Faroe Islands

Welcome to the Faroe Islands, an icy archipelago between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean! It’s around halfway between Norway and Iceland, 320 clicks NW of mainland Scotland (#wikilyfe). And, Pete Devries was there recently. Mr Devries is the cold water specialist you know from jams like this, and while the backdrop of this image is all-consuming, don’t miss the Canadian jumping over a lip down there in the bottom right corner. Pete was in the Faroes with lenseman Ben Gulliver, working on a film called Seawolf. “They (the islands) are Insanely beautiful and very fickle and tricky in terms of surf,” says Pete. But, what scenery! The team was there sans photographer, so this here is a Red 5K framegrab – good enough in this instance, because this is something that we simply must share with our world.
