These days, a photo has got to be pretty dynamic to grab what is left of this generation’s dwindling attention-spans. This photo’s a good candidate. Taken during the Boost Mobile Surfsho held at Bondi over the weekend, it makes great use of foreground (the jetski coasting along in front of the wave), background (the boat disappearing around the northern headland), and action (Otis Carney flicking his fins.)

The photo was taken during Otis’ first heat of the event. He’d won the Arnette Roulette Series, scoring a wildcard into the event, and was only just pipped by two-time Surfsho champion, Owen Wright.
