Luke Hynd butterknifes D’bah, Gold Coast, NSW
“It’s been a really tropical summer on the Gold Coast this year,” says a local photographer who’d know about such things, Simon Muirhead. “You might even call it a wet season! The water has been warm and crystal clear but the cloudy days take all the colour away, hence the black and white choice for this shot. I was stoked to see Luke (Hynd, pictured) put away his aerial game away for a bit and show some on-rail power surfing. He might be putting some weight on that spindly frame! “I’ve been waiting with the pro circus to roll into town with the Scoot Pro WQS soon and then the Quiksilver Pro, but it’s been a pretty quiet January so far for any big names. When I rock up to D-bah and there are 50 photographers I’ve never seen in my life, then I know it’s Quik Pro time!”
