Luke Davis Applies Gusto To A Moroccan Pointbreak
Electric green!
How about the magic of Morocco? There’s a mystical allure, of long righthand pointbreaks and hashish and colourful markets and wonderful food and everything else that makes you wanna flex the amex and jump a plane this minute. Photographer Quinn Matthews jumped on a plane there with Luke Davis for a short strike mission, and fired off this moment of dismantling an aforementioned right point.
“This was taken late afternoon at one of the many pointbreaks,” says Quinn. “One of the things that stood out about this swell was the wind. It was very light or protected at most spots, which was uncommon and really nice for photos, since the afternoon light is so good. The top of the point was pretty busy with a crowd of locals and visitors, but there was a big sandbar built up on the inside which only a few bodyboarders were on. On high tide (pictured) the wave was Lowers-esque, before hollowing out on low tide. This was towards the start of the session and set the pace for the rest of the evening.”
Since we’re so taken with the place, we’ve compiled a list of this you simply must (and must not) do while in Morocco, according to Luke. Where to surf, what to eat, where to party, how to maximise. Keep an eye out for the feature later this week on Stab.
