Kolohe Andino hustles at Huntington Beach, CA
Does history make an ordinary wave better than it really is? Maybe! Who cares tho; Kolohe Andino is so good to watch right now, wherever he is, and is competing with a renewed… something, which at this point is still kinda ineffable, but it’s clear where it’s taking him; North. Something clicked in Brazil and Brother made his first world tour final. He followed that with a third in Fiji and a ninth in South Africa. Now, at the US Open, he’s thus far won his first two heats with 15-plus combined totals and will face Garrett Parkes and Peterson Crisanto in round three. Watching Brother swing his tail over this beachbreak feels well-suited, and it’s no surprise that the man who finished runner up here in 2013 is breezing through heats. Keep an eye on it here.
